In Memoriam

Anne Madison Hydrick Fox

A Lancer out of sight
Never out of mind

We regret to inform all of the Alumni and the class of

1962 that Anne Madison Hydrick Fox died Sunday November 6, 2016.

Anne Madison Hydrick Fox, of Urbanna, VA, a member of the Class of '62, passed away on November 6, 2016, as a result of leukemia.

Anne was a long-time hair stylist in Springfield, where she had lived from her early childhood well into adulthood when she relocated to the port town of Urbanna in the Tidewater region.  She enjoyed her home, known as Foxwood, near Urbanna Creek and the Rappahannock River.

Anne is survived by many family members, including her daughter and son-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she adored and enjoyed immensely.

Anne had many interests and was passionate about each.  She loved spending time at the beach, cooking and baking, gardening, as well as many other activities, and she was outspoken on many social issues.  She was also a devout member of Christ Church in Saluda, VA.

A celebration of Anne's life was held at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home on November 13, 2016, with burial in Fairfax Memorial Park on Braddock Road in Fairfax, VA.

Martin Eugene Maples, 63
Martin Eugene Maples, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday Dec. 8, 2012.
Survivors include his wife, partner, and main squeeze of 36 years, Sarah A. Liddle, of Shawsville, Va.
He was the son of Bobbie Maples and the late Charles Maples of Lexington, Ky. He was born Sept. 12, 1949 into the life of a military family and all that that encompassed.
He always had an encouraging word if you were down, helpful advice if you needed it, and a warm and welcoming smile.
Because of the suddenness of Martin's passing, a celebration of a life well lived, will be planned for spring 2013.
Sarah requests that contributions be made to one of these organizations: The Central VA Post Polio Support Group, 14606 Talleywood Ct, Chester, Va. 23831; The Blue Ridge Music Makers Guild, 7197 Floyd Hwy S., Willis, Va. 24380-4025, of which Martin was a founding member; or the Shawsville Ministerial Association Food Pantry, P.O. Box 248, Shawsville, Va. 24162, where he volunteered.
We miss him terribly, and the world is much diminished without him.
As his journal entry from April 30, 2012 states, "We do have to continue in faith, patience and grace."
