In Memoriam

Anna Hass
Peeler Phillips

A Lancer out of sight
Never out of mind

We regret to inform all of the Alumni and the class of 1961 that Anna Hass Peeler Phillips, 72, of Wallace North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016
.

She was born August 28, 1943 in Salisbury, NC and was the daughter of the late William Frederick and Thelma Anna Haas Peeler. She is also predeceased by her brother, Frederick W. Peeler.

Anna is survived by her loving daughter, Cathryn Anne Perry of Wallace; brothers, John R. Peeler (Christine) of Clarksburg, MD and James W. Peeler (Laura) of Littleton, NC; nieces, Kelly A. Peeler, Samantha E. Peeler, Alyssa L. Peeler and Kara N. Peeler and numerous friends.

Anna was a very intelligent woman who knew what she wanted and where she wanted to go in life. She spent more that 34 years with extensive experiences as a software process improvement Quality Assurance Manager. She designed, validated and tested, numerous kinds of software that is used all over the world today. She was employed with Unisys Corporation as QAM for numerous years where she performed quality assurance audits of multiple Federal Systems. She was also a Senior QA Analyst and Deputy QA Manager for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safe Drinking Water Information System. From 1987-1997, Anna continued her career as a Staff Analyst for the government at the Pentagon.

Anna was a devoted mother and caring sister and aunt that loved her family dearly. She loved spending time in God’s beautiful outdoors and enjoyed gardening. A friend stated that “God’s gardens have a new gardener”. With a heart full of love and compassion, she had “a heart as tender as a flower’s spring petals”. Anna was a woman of unmatched character, beauty and grace, “an instrument of God’s love on this earth.” She was a friend to all, a strong yet gentle and loving presence to all who were blessed to know her. She looked for and encouraged the best in everyone that she knew. Anna will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

A celebration of Anna’s life will be held on Saturday March 26 at 3:00 pm at the River Landing Clubhouse at River Landing Country Club Rd, Wallace, NC 28466.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in support of the Pender County CES Teaching Gardens.
