Herbert William
"Bill" Maas III

Never out of mind |
We are sorry to inform the Lee community and the
class of 1966 that Bill
Maas died on January 10, 2014.
Herbert William "Bill" Maas III, age 66, of Mangum OK,
passed away at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus
OK. Mr. Maas was born in Vernon TX on October 23, 1947,
to Herbert William Maas II and Billie Gene Smith.
Moving to Springfield VA at an early age, Bill graduated
high school in Springfield and then attended the
Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore OK. Bill later
attended Oklahoma State University where he was a member
of the FIJI Fraternity. His first job was traveling up
and down the East Coast, playing with a band. Bill was a
talented musician who could play any stringed
instrument, especially the guitar and banjo. Later, Bill
began working for Hewlett-Packard Computer Company in
Lincoln CA, spending 19 years before moving to Mangum to
be closer to his mother. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed
listening to and playing music and working with
computers.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his
aunts Hoppy Hervey and husband Bill of Greensboro NC,
and Fran Scearce and husband Bob of Portland OR; several
cousins; and many other relatives and friends.
