Richard Douglas Tenney's
Class Ring is returned

Good Afternoon, All,

I have spoken with Richard Douglas Tenney several times and confirmed that he has now been reunited with his Class of '85 ring lost at Ocean City in August 1985 -- yes, 30 years ago, just three months after he received it.  While on the beach, Rick removed the ring and placed it on a blanket, fell asleep, awoke, shook the sand from the blanket and left, forgetting that he had removed his ring.  He's regretted it ever since.

I first found a Richard D. Tenney in Pittsburgh, but then learned he has never been to Springfield.  I discovered that our Rick's father died in 2005.  I then located him using the address in the Alumni Directory after finding his mother's name also listed with it in an online database.  I found his mother in Arizona and wrote to her, but she was in England for an extended period.  Upon her return, she forwarded my letter to Rick and he called me.  I connected him with JoAnn Dower in northeastern Pennsylvania and she sent a very happy Rick his long lost class ring.  He is amazed.

I've also spoken with JoAnn several times, a very nice lady from the Class of 1961 somewhere in PA.  Her daughter, also a mid-eighties grad, found the ring just days after Rick lost it, apparently, and JoAnn has kept it in her jewelry box all these years, hoping to someday return it to its rightful owner.

The point is:  If a similar situation arises in the future, let me know and perhaps I can again connect the two parties.  I am known as the Sleuth of the Class of '62; it's what I do.

Remember our veterans, not just tomorrow, but always.

Best regards, everyone,
Lane LeBosquet '62
