Carla Jo Dakin

In Memoriam

A Lancer out of sight
Never out of mind

Dear Family and Friends,

Carla Jo thought a great deal about you all, her family and friends, and wanted us to let you know as easily as possible when the time came for her death. I am writing this note to tell you that on Friday, September 08, 2006, at 3:05 pm, she died. It was a harmonious passage; she was prepared to go gently, and did so in her usual classy and graceful way.

She wrote the following note to inform you of this inevitable life event. She would have been 59 years old (on 9/21/2006) and she recognized that she had lived a full and abundant life. Our sadness comes because we will miss her very much, and she also will miss each of us very much. She loved her husband Ed, especially his untold kindnesses, and ability to keep her grounded; a major presence in her life She is very pleased with her daughters, the wonderful Dorie, now in her senior year at UCBerkeley, and Elena, now mother of Miles Arlo Dakin Perez-Davis (whom Carla Jo nicknamed Milo) and married to Seth. These daughters have been the center of her world and have reciprocated with love and understanding far beyond their years. She will miss her other dear children Stephanie and her husband Sal, Paul and his wife Lor, and Ricky and she is very proud of each of them. She also loved her grandchildren Anna, Jocelyn, Savana, and Marty.

She loved her dear cousins especially Joann and Pegi, and cherished her siblings Monta Lee & Steve, Julie Ann & Chris, Bill and Leigh, and was fortunate in 2006 to spend many delightful moments with them. As close as siblings were her exceptional friends Terry, Pat, Susan, Betsy, Sara, Ajit and Whitney.

She thought highly of you all, and thus she thought you might want to know that her time had come to shed this life. May your day include thoughts of good shared memories and may you take a minute and find the sunset.

Love,

Ed, Dorie, and Elena

Notice of her memorial service to be conducted within a month will be forthcoming.
