We are sorry to inform the Lee community that
Don Rose, class of 1973, passed on Sunday,
November 9, 2014.
Don passed away peacefully at home, surrounded
by his loving family, in Springfield, Virginia.
Don Joins his father, the late Arnold B. Rose. A Washington, D.C.
native, Don lived most of his life in Northern Virginia, graduated
from Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, and attended Virginia
Tech and George Mason Universities.
As an engineer working in the telecom industry, Don worked for
Moffett, Larson & Johnson, Inc., LA Cellular, and was a part of the
senior executive team at LCC, International, Inc., and he greatly
enjoyed his work in the cellular industry.
After retirement, Don enjoyed spending more time with his family and
friends, his pets, volunteering at his children's schools, teaching
at church, gardening, and travel.
Don's love of fly fishing took him to New Zealand, Alaska, Montana,
Pennsylvania, Colorado and Wyoming, and he enjoyed golfing locally
and on both coasts. Good food and a bottle of red wine were a couple
of Don's favorite things to enjoy with his family and friends.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of forty years, Debbe Rose, his
children James, Bethany, and Drew, his daughter in law, Audrey and
grandchildren Tatum and Spencer. He is also survived by his mother,
sisters, Debbie and Crystal, a large extended family, and many
treasured and loved friends.
"The Secret of life is Enjoying the Passing of Time" was a favorite
song, and Don lived those words – his quick smile, Sense of humor,
and kind and generous manner will be greatly missed by all who knew
him.
