FBLA Winning Streak Continues Congratulations to Lee Future Business Leaders of America for again being recognized as one of the best in the nation receiving the Gold Seal Chapter Award of Merit, the Hollis & Kitty Guy Award, for their hard work in the areas of school & community service, business knowledge & skills, leadership & promotion, financial activities, and social activities. A five member delegation consisting of retiring Virginia State Secretary-Treasurer and Lee FBLA President, Lavendar Phan, retiring Lee FBLA Vice President, Jonathan Barrera, Lee FBLA National competitor, Hannah Smith, 2006 Virginia State Secretary-Treasurer Giovanni Biancaniello, and 2006 NOVA Region Parliamentarian, Carlos Capllonch, represented the chapter in general sessions, workshops, and competitive events. The FBLA National Leadership Conference was held over the summer in Nashville, Tennessee at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. The keynote speaker for the event was Coach Ken Carter, who also gave workshops during the conference. Over 5,000 students from across the nation as well as from DoDDS Europe, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands attended the event. Rising Junior Hannah Smith received a sixth place national award for the Word Processing I event and received a Certificate of Recognition from Governor Kaine. Smith is currently an applicant for the Membership Committee on the National Southern Region Executive Board and we are anxiously awaiting a response.
