In Memoriam

Jeffrey A. (Jeff)
Steele

A Lancer out of sight
Never out of mind

We are sorry to inform the Lee community that Jeff Steele, class of 1970, passed on Monday, October 8, 2018.

Jeff was born in Washington, D.C. April 17, 1952 to Ira and Pat Steele. While spending his childhood in the area, he developed a great love for baseball and the Washington Redskins.

After high school, he attended the University of South Carolina where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Finance and enjoyed his time as a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Jeff and his wife Kathy met while in junior high and rekindled their relationship following Jeff's time at USC. They were married in May 1976 in Virginia. They moved frequently, resulting in stays in Virginia, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho before a 15-year stint in Yakima, Washington, where they raised their two children, Amy and Matt. They returned to Boise for a third time in 2001.

The driving factor in the relocations over the years was Jeff's 41-year career with Boise Cascade. During this span he served in an array of roles and built countless relationships. At retirement he was the West Region Manager in the Building Material Distribution Division.
Throughout his life Jeff had a sense of civic duty that saw him volunteer for a wide variety of charitable organizations. His most recent passion was for the Idaho Food Bank. He spent many hours assisting in the preparation of food and kits for those in need.

Jeff had a great love for sports. He enjoyed cheering on the USC Gamecocks (which he referred to as the Gamechickens), the
University of Washington Huskies (where his children attended), the Redskins, Seattle Mariners and college basketball teams during March Madness. He was also an avid golfer, enjoying many rounds at both Hillcrest and Plantation Country Clubs.
Jeff, Kathy, family and friends made many trips around the country and Europe together in search of great golf, exceptional wine, and unique experiences with many laughs had along the way. Other passions in Jeff's life included reading extensively about history and business and wearing out countless pairs of shoes walking the greenbelt.

Jeff is survived by his wife Kathy (Boise), children Amy and Matt (Seattle), mother Pat, sister Barb, brother-in-law Dave, sister-in-law Barb, nephews Rich and Joe, niece Kayla and grandniece Hadley.

Services were be held at 1:00pm on October 27th at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel with a celebration of life which followed at Hillcrest Country Club.

In lieu of flowers or other memoriam, donations to the Idaho Food Bank in his name would be greatly appreciated.
