In Memoriam

Woodrow Wilson Parker, II '61

A Lancer out of sight
Never out of mind

Maj. Woodrow Wilson Parker, II, U.S. Air Force
Perished in
Vietnam

18 April 1943 – 24 April 1968

On April 24, 1968 while serving as a reserve pilot in the Air Force, 1st Lt. Parker was a wingman in an F-4D Phantom fighter jet on a night strike mission to destroy an enemy storage area near Van Loc, North Vietnam.  His aircraft went down after receiving enemy fire and it was not known whether the pilot or Woody had been able to eject.  While declared Missing in Action, Woody was promoted to Major.  However, on June 7, 1978, his status was changed to Died While Missing.  His remains were repatriated in 1993 and identified in 1998.  Woody had just turned 25 six days before the crash.  He rests at Arlington National Cemetery.
