“The Lance Krall Show” debuts April 18th on Spike TV

Los Angeles - What happens when you give a bunch of talented comedians a camera and free license to create whatever they want for a new television series?  You get “The Lance Krall Show,” an original, unscripted, fast-paced comedy featuring a cast of long-time friends.  How did it happen?

“We just got together to film things we thought were funny,” says Krall, “and before we knew it, we had enough solid material for a pilot.”

After Lance Krall's scene-stealing portrayal as Kip on the wildly popular "The Joe Schmo Show," Spike TV jumped at the opportunity to greenlight eight episodes of this unique sketch show. Unlike traditional sketch comedy shows, “The Lance Krall Show” includes edgy sketches, man-on-the-street interaction with the unsuspecting and a dojo’s worth of kung fu fights, ninjas and samurais. Says Krall, “As you’ll see, when it comes to material, we don’t discriminate between low brow and high brow comedy. We have plenty of both -- if it makes us laugh, it’s passed the test.”

Krall is the series creator, director, editor and star. Co-stars Sarah Baker, Phil Cater, Annie Humphrey, Rob Poynter, Michael Sweeney, Loren Tarquinio and Anna Vocino collaborated on the content of the show.

Lance Krall is a founding member of the Atlanta , GA improv comedy hotspot, Whole World Theatre, where he and the cast first started working together.  Shortly after moving to Los Angeles , Krall was cast by Steve Martin as a series regular on his variety show, “The Downer Channel” for NBC. In 2003, while “Kip, The Gay Guy,” was entertaining audiences on “The Joe Schmo Show,” Krall, along with Grady Cooper, made the comedic film, Party Animals. A 30-minute short featuring many of his current co-stars, Party Animals has gained acclaim at festivals including the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival, Slamdance in Park City , Utah and the Vail Film Festival.

Like Party Animals, “The Lance Krall Show” began with the idea that he and his friends film something on their own. “If we hadn’t taken the initiative to make a pilot ourselves, there’s no way ‘The Lance Krall Show’ would have been considered for a series,” says Krall. “Digital technology has given people like us the ability to grab a camera, shoot and edit a show with a fraction of the budget of a traditional television series.” Executive producer Rory Rosegarten states, “Lance Krall is one of the most talented guys I've ever had the opportunity to work with. He acts, writes, directs, edits, shoots and, hell, buys the coffee and doughnuts, too.”

Adds Rosegarten, “‘The Lance Krall Show’ is a rare experience. It is unlike any sketch show that has gone before it, and I think it sets a new standard in comedy. It's rich in characterization, parody and punch line, and it's all pulled off by one of the most insane and hilarious casts on television. It's addictive, and I'm confident that it will become ‘appointment’ TV.”

The Lance Krall Show premieres at 11pm on Monday, April 18th on SpikeTV. The show airs also at 10pm on Thursdays.  Rory Rosegarten is the Executive Producer. Lance Krall, Grady Cooper and Peter Siaggas all produce and direct the series.
